Introduction into the working methods of a chemical laboratory. The students will learn about: 1. Basic equipment of a chemical laboratory and their use and applications, 2. Basic chemical operations, e.g., recrystallization, distillation, sublimation, determination of purity of compounds (melting points, boiling points), titrations, etc., 3. Proper documentation of experiments by keeping full record in a lab journal including observations and descriptions of experiments, 4. Introduction to chemical principles, 5. Following a procedure and work-up of a simple reaction, isolation and purification of reaction products
