Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to:

  • describe relevant chemical-technological processes for the preparation of industrially important organic compounds and polymer materials;
  • explain the different synthetic pathways for the production of macromolecular compounds and to enumerate a number of possible applications for these products.

Subject of course

Oil production and refining (distillation, cracking, reforming, hydroprocessing), natural gas, products of oil refinery, coal, gasification of organic raw materials, processes based on synthesis gas (Fischer-Tropsch synthesis, Oxo-synthesis, synthesis of methanol and important derivatives), olefins and acetylene (synthesis, industrial derivatives and their use), aromatics (production, industrial derivatives and their use),  macromolecular chemistry (basics, structural principles, syntheses), production and use of industrially important linear and crosslinked polymers, production of pulp and triglycerides, industrial derivatives and their use
