After successful completion of the course, students are able to describe theoretical and synthetic peculiarities different polymerization classes, to select specific synthesis method for certain polymer architectures and to reason this selection.
This lecture deals with special aspects of polymer synthesis. Therefore, we will focus on theoretical and synthetic peculiarities of the following polymerization classes: anionic and cationic polymerization, ROMP/ROP, controlled free radical polymerizations (NMP, ATRP, RAFT/MADIX, etc.), Ziegler-Natta-polymerisation, polyaddition, polycondensation. Moreover, the lecture deals with polymer architectures, e.g. block-copolymers, star polymers, graft polymers and dendritic polymers. Knowledge of the subject matter of VO 163.138 is expected.
After an introduction, the different synthesis methods of polymers will be discussed. Finally, their employment with respect to the designated application field will be explained.
30 minutes, 3 Questions
1) Fundamental question (from the introduction)
2+3) each one from the two topics (Baudis/Ehrmann)
For each question a max. time of 10 min is scheduled und max. 8 points will be awarded, hence 24 possible points in sum (only integers)
Each topic (and the according question 1 through 3) must be positively examined (at least 4 Punkte) hence at least 12 Punkte have to be achieved for a positive grade!
Sehr Gut (1): 21-24 points
Gut (2): 18-20 points
Befriedigend (3): 15-17 points
Genügend (4): 12-14 points
Nicht genügend (5): 0-11 points
