After successful completion of the course, students are able to describe theoretical and synthetic peculiarities different polymerization classes, to select specific synthesis method for certain polymer architectures and to reason this selection.
This lecture deals with special aspects of polymer synthesis. Therefore, we will focus on theoretical and synthetic peculiarities of the following polymerization classes: anionic and cationic polymerization, ROMP/ROP, controlled free radical polymerizations (NMP, ATRP, RAFT/MADIX, etc.), Ziegler-Natta-polymerisation, polyaddition, polycondensation. Moreover, the lecture deals with polymer architectures, e.g. block-copolymers, star polymers, graft polymers and dendritic polymers. Knowledge of the subject matter of VO 163.138 is expected.
After an introduction, the different synthesis methods of polymers will be discussed. Finally, their employment with respect to the designated application field will be explained.
The lecture will be hold in distance learning mode. For preliminaries and lecture part Baudis please use this link: https://global.gotomeeting.com/join/826785669
The slides for the lecture part Baudis will be available via TUWEL. The recordings of the lecture will also be uploaded/linked there.
The lectures by Prof. Unterlass take place at the following dates and times and links willl be communicated before the lecture slots:
