Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to

  • knowing the energy supply in Austria, Europe and the world
  • better understand the facts about the climate crisis
  • know the origin, preparation of the most important fuels
  • assess ways of increasing the efficiency of energy supply (power generation)
  • better understand alternative, renewable power generation technologies and to assess their possibilities and limits
  • assess ways of increasing the efficiency of energy supply (power generation)
  • knowing carbon capture technologies
  • assess energy supply techniques as a whole.

Energy demand in Austria, Europe, and worldwide, Energy flow diagramm, Fuel technology from exploration until utilization (fossil and renewable), Production of renewable gases, Thermal Conversion of fuels with special emphasis of power generation, Renewable Energy: hydro power, wind, solar, geothermy, and others (tidal, wave, ...) Energy systems for the future, Carbon capture, Evaluation of energy systems
