After successful completion of the course, students are able to provide a qualitative and quantitative description of the development of stars and galaxies as well as an explanation of the dominant processes of nucleosynthesis.
1. Introduction, 2. Nuclear physics basis, 3. Structure of the universe, 4. The early universe, 5. Nucleosynthesis, 6. Evolution of stars, 7. Thermonuclear Reactions, 8. Determination of reaction rates
The course gives in a series of weekly lectures an introduction into the field of Nuclear Astrophysics. Starting from the basic knowledge of physics the evolution of the universe, the development and properties of stars and the most important processes of nucleosynthesis are presented and explained.
The course is planned as a lecture in presence. If the situation changes and lectures in presence are not possible, the course will be given in virtual mode as short as necessary.
oral examination on the content of the course
Knowledge of the courses in Basics of Physics I, II und III is recommended.
