Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to calculate the e⁺e⁻→ mu⁺mu⁻ cross section, to solve Dirac‘s equation for simple problems and to calculate the dimensions of particle accelerators on basis of the particles which have to be accelerated.

Subject of course

Nuclear Reactions Electromagnetic Transitions Weak Decays Strong Interaction

We follow the book "Modern Particle Physics" by Mark Thomson.

Teaching methods

Calculation of examples as homework. Problem sets will be published on Tuesdays via TUWEL. You then have one week to upload your solutions as PDF.

As a replacement for the in-class conversation, an exercise session will be held every week Wednesday 11:00-12:00 via Zoom. During this session, students have to present their solutions usind the submitted PDF.
