Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to reproduce the calculation of the e+e-->mu+mu- cross section and to derive the dirac equation. The electron-proton scattering can be explained in detail. The strong and the weak interction can be formulated. 

Subject of course

Introduction into the problems and concepts of the physics of the standard model; experimental facilities (accelerators and detectors); relativistic quantum mechanics; symmetries and conservation laws; concept of quantum field theories; the electromagnetic interaction; the strong interaction; the weak interaction; horizon of the physics beyond the standard model

Teaching methods

Lecture with calculations and disucssion of concrete examples.
