Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to solve problems of atomic, nuclear and particle physics and to apply methods which are taught in the parallel lecture course 142.086 Atom-, Kern- und Teilchenphysik I.

One-electron atom: fine structure, hyperfine structure and isotopic shift, interaction with electromagnetic radiation; two-electron atoms; many-electron atoms; basic nuclear properties; nuclear models

- You can present problems voluntarily and collect one bonus point per presentation. Handing in a solution to a problem counts as 0.5 points.

- You can pass the course by handing in a take-home exam. The homework counts for 10 points, you need four points to pass. You can hand in the work during June.

- Homework and presentation points amount to the grade.
