Aim of course

Deepening the basic concepts of atomic physics as discussed in the lecture "Atomic, Nuclear and Particle Physics". Exercise of the formalisms by application to specific examples.

Subject of course

- building blocks of matter, elementary particles and their interactions - properties of atoms, nuclei and elementary particles - model of independent particles (incl. quantum numbers, periodic system and magic numbers) - emission and absorption of electromagnetic radiation - instabilities of nuclei and particles - application of atomic and nuclear physics (selection)
