Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to explain splitting of energy levels and interaction with electromagnetic radiation, to analyse the model expansions for two- and many-electron atoms as well as to explicate basic nuclear properties and to categorise different nuclear models.

One-electron atom: fine structure, hyperfine structure and isotopic shift, interaction with electromagnetic radiation; two-electron atoms; many-electron atoms; basic nuclear properties; nuclear models

Teaching methods

Lecture with discussion of representative examples, usage of the board to communicate the script.
