Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to understand the basic concepts  and methods of the scattering and reaction theory in quantum mechanics and to apply them on corresponding problems in nuclear, particle and atomic physics.

Subject of course

1. Basic Scattering Theory: Formal Scattering Theory, Potential Scattering, Approximations 2. Optical Model. concept, microscopic approaches 3. Reaction Theory: reaction mechanisms, concepts, R-matrix, resonances 4. Statistical Model: Hauser-Feshbach formula 5. Direct Reactions: Distorted Wave Born Approximation (DWBA), Coupled-Channel calculations 6. Pre-equilibrium reactions: Exciton model, multistep direct reactions
