Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to understand the setup and the practical process flow in high energy physics experiments. Detailed results depend on the type of the practical work.

Subject of course

Practical work in various fields of high-energy physics using modern methods, especially for preparation, operation and data analysis of experiments. Possible work topics: data analyis, phenomenology, hard- and software development, and information technology. The project work can either be performed at the Institute for High Energy Physics in Vienna or at CERN in Geneva. Participation in data taking is possible, subject to the experiments' schedules.
