After successful completion of the course, students are able to

1. plan a simple experiment at a particle accelerator,
2. set-up and perform the planned experiment at the MedAustron particle accelerator independently.

The aim of this laboratory exercise is to perform simple experiments in particle physics and their medical application in the irradiation room for non-clinical research at the particle accelerator of MedAustron.

Initially, the experiments will be prepared at the Institute for High Energy Physics and at MedAustron. Afterwards, the entire irradiation procedure of an experiment at MedAustron will be familiarised with and independently performed.  This includes the preparation of an irradiation plan and the subsequent operation of the particle accelerator to carry out the planned irradiation of the prepared experiment. Finally, the acquired data will be analysed and graphically displayed using available frameworks.
