Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to...

  • to use an X-ray goniometer
  • to perform simple structure analysis
  • to perform a qualitative XRF analysis
  • to evaluate a TLD dosimeter
  • to determine the elements of a radioactive sample using gamma-spectroscopy

Subject of course

1. Energy dispersive and wavelength dispersive X-ray fluorescence analysis 2. Adjustment of a rotating crystal spectrograph 3. Gamma-spectroscopy 4. Debye-Scherrer- and Laue methods 5. Thermoluminescence dosimetry 6. Photoelectric cross sections

Teaching methods

After an introduction to  the topic individual measurements, data evaluation and interpretations will be performed by the students under supervision.. Concluding a final report should demonstrate that the individual methods are understood and results are presented
