After successful completion of the course, students are able to understand and conduct simple experiments at low temperatures. They are able to devise such experiments and understand the functionality. They acquire a basic knowledge of superconductivity as well as the methods used to measure transport currents, critical temperature and various types of magnetisation measurements.
Introduction into experimental methods and measuring techniques. Measurement and control of low temperatures. Measurements on Superconductors. In German.
This is a teaching block of nine full days. Each day starts with a short 45 minute introduction into the basics of work at low temperatures and superconductivity. The following experimental sections are done in typically two groups of students with four persons in each one. The experiments range from simple temperature regulation and measurement at low temperatures to more demanding tasks of measuring various properties of superconductors, such as transport critical currents, critical temperature and various magnetization measurements.
block course
The success in this lab course is verified in three steps. Primarily, the cooperation of the participants in the experimental sessions is noted by the supervisors. Secondly, the protocol is corrected and evaluated. And, thirdly, a short concluding discussion is held in order to determine the sufficient theoretical background of the participants.
Die Anmeldung erfolgt im Anschluss an die ATI Präsentation HS 5, Freihaus im TISS, beziehungsweise im TISS.
