After successful completion of the course, students are able to calibrate radiation detectors, to measure attenuation coefficients and build-up factors for gamma rays, to execute thermoluminescence dosimetry, to determine the dose distribution in a water phantom, to describe shielding of beta and gamma rays, to apply neutron activation analysis and gamma spectrometry as well as to explain PUREX processes.
Practical course covering the following topics: Calibration of radiation detectors, measurement of attenuation coefficients and build-up factors for gamma rays, thermoluminescence dosimetry, dose distribution in a water phantom, shielding of beta and gamma rays, sealed and unsealed sources, gamma spectrometry, PUREX process
