Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to:

  • discuss and interprete basic verbs in medical physics, as activity, dose, equivalent dose, ... and explain its use by examples
  • identify dosimetric questions in medical use and find solutions to be discussed
  • list typical features and machines to be used in disgnostics, nuclear medicine and radiation therapy
  • optionally find motivation for ongoing projets (project work, master thesis, thesis, ...)

Subject of course

after positive examination students are able to:

  • give an overview of the historic introduction
  • list types and properties of ionizing radiation
  • name and interprete the interaction of ionising radiation with matter
  • distinguish and explain in detail differnt types of detectors
  • be familiar with dosimetry and radiological units
  • name and interprete concepts and methods of diagnostic radiography, nuclear medicine, radiotherapy
  • talk about advanced techniques (proton- and ion-therapy).
