Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to gather the meaning of radiation protection to the technological civilisation of the constitutional state and to know physical and social concepts of modern radiation protection and to apply them onto optimisation and aceptance issues, medical applications, the nuclear controversity and natural and anthropogenic radiataion sources (environmental radiation e.g. radon in buliding materials).

Subject of course

Introduction to the interaction of ionizing radiation with matter; basic problems and fundamental concepts of today's radiation protection philosophy

Teaching methods

Lecture of the teacher with discussion - basics, connections and case studies in cooperation with Ms. DI Dr. Hannah Wiedner (Stadt Wien, MA 39)

Active participation of students - discussions, presentations of further questions and topics, research and evaluation of technical literature (compulsory attendance at least 2/3 of the dates)
