Aim of course

Understanding of particle detectors in nuclear and particle physics

Subject of course

Introduction to particle interaction with matter and lectures on the different particle detector types in nuclear and particle physics: gaseous detectors, silicon detectors, scintillators, calorimeters, and detectors for particle identification.

Examples of modern particle physics experiments are discussed, e.g. experiments at the LHC at CERN.
