  • Format: Online

Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to...

  • Perform measurement with an energy dispersive X-ray spectrometer
  • Qualitative analysis of X-ray spectra, determine the elements in a sample
  • Spectrum deconvolution using special software
  • Interpretation of measurement data and writing a report
  • Using special methods of XRF like TXRF, µ-XRF, GIXRF,…

Subject of course

  • Qualitative X-ray analysis
  • Spectrum deconvolution
  • Data evaluation and  interpretation
  • Contribution to problems of actual research activities
  • e.g Application of special XRF methods to spezial analytical problems
  • Development of special XRF methods to special analytical problems in eg. Environmental science, medicine, biology, nano science, cultural heritage and industrial applications

Teaching methods

After introduction to the scientific problem the student applies his competences to actual problems within the research activity of the working group. he performs measurements, evaluates and interpretes the data. Finally the result will be summed in a written report.
