Properties

  • Semester hours: 4.0
  • Credits: 4.0
  • Type: VU Lecture and Exercise

Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to write simple programs in C or C++, and also will be able to implement problems of higher complexity. They can use external classes to numerically solve physics problems. They are able to understand further reading and also will be able to adapt to other programming languages.

Subject of course

Object oriented programming, basic algorithms, data structures, fundamentals of modern multi-task systems, networks and inter process communication, controlling and analysis of experiments

Teaching methods

Lecture with integrated exercises. Exercises are done in groups of two
persons on one terminal. The exercises should be finished in
the same unit, or, if this is not possible, until the beginning of
the next unit.

Mode of examination

Immanent

Additional information

The lecture will be held in 4 groups on Mon afternoon, Tue morning, Tue afternoon and Wed afternoon.

The lessons are starting for each group on Mon 7.10., Tue 8.10., Wed 9.10.2019, respectively.

Examination modalities

The assessment of students success consists of three parts. One is the
successful completion each unit's exercises. For these, points are
allotted. In addition, two written tests have to be absolved, where
the maximum number of each is the same as the sum of the points of all
units' exercises. In order to achieve a positve rating, more than half
of the maximum number of points has to reached in each of the tests and
for the exercises. If one test is negative, or if the student could
not take part for valid reasons, we offer an additional test at the
end of the term. One may only miss units when a valid
reason and a written verification of that reason is provided.
