Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to explain fundamental aspects of the standard model of cosmology and to assess consequences of physics in and beyond the standard model of particle physics

Subject of course

Standard model of cosmology: Friedmann-Robertson-Walker metric, dynamics, thermal history of the universe, nucleosynthesis, dark matter, dark energy, inflationary universe, structure formation

The course will take place online every Monday from 15:15 to 16:45.

The first session will be on the 01. March 2021. It will be a brief introduction and presentation of the lecture content and administrative aspects, allowing students to decide if they want to follow the course.

Previous knowledge

The course will be mostly self-contained. However, for some parts of the course basic knowledge of general relativity, quantum field theory and thermodynamics will be helpful but is not necessary.
