Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to understand the content listed below, in a way that they are able to solve related exercises on their own and present their solutions understandably.

  • special relativity and electromagnetism in covariant form
  • electromagnetic waves in vaccum and in matter
  • optics and dispersion
  • modes in wave guides
  • radiation of electromagnetic waves
  • Larmor formula and Lienard-Wiechert potentials
  • numerical methods

Teaching methods

Students are given lecture-related exercises. They prepare and upload them independently within two week and present their solutions online in front of the group. Every other week there will be an online question-and-answer session related to the ongoing exercises.
