Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to are in postion to reproduce the  contnts as outlined in detail in the english version of "Lehrinhalte" in written as well as oral form. Moreover the students will be able to apply the basic concepts of  Elektrodynamik I to simple examples.

Subject of course

Starting from Electro- and Magentostatics both in vacuum as well as in matter, we develop by taking into account time-dependent electrical as well as magnetical fields via Faraday's Induction law and the Ampere-Maxwell law Maxwell's equations. From the invariance of the propagation-velocity of wave-solutions of Maxwell's equations emerges the Space-Time concept of Special Relativity.

Blackboard presentation, discussion of prototypic excersises within the plenum,

weekly excersises which have to be presented orally
