This course is in at least 1 assigned curriculum part of the STEOP.

2023S, VO, 2.0h, 3.0EC

Properties

  • Semester hours: 2.0
  • Credits: 3.0
  • Type: VO Lecture
  • Format: Presence

Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to understand simple chemical processes. Students can discuss basic properties of the elements or derive them from their position in the periodic table, as well as ther applications in industry and technology. Studenst are also able to link chemical and physical problems in the different areas of chemistry and data science, and they will be able to develop skills with software such as Matlab.

Subject of course

Einblick in verschiedene Fachgebiete der Chemie (relevant chapter for datascience master - approximately from May-June from the main course 153.075)

Overview of main group elements

Overview of  transition elements

Overview of rare earth elements

Selected topics of various chemical areas and invited guest lectures.

Teaching methods

Flipped classroom, digital audioslides for offline self-education, self education based on suggested online literature and textbooks, application and discussion of concepts in VO and tutorial examples, support of self assesment.
