After successful completion of the course, students are able to understand the concepts and research questions in modern surface physics and be able to make sense of scientific research papers in this area.
Description of solid surfaces; chemical, crystallographic, and electronic structure of surfaces; thermodynamics; crystallography; adsorption and desorption of molecules; principles of surface spectroscopy.
