After successful completion of the course, students are able to...describe the structure of an atom, to explain the formation of atomic spectra, to solve the Schrödinger equation for simple potentials (box, oscillator, ... ) up to the Coulomb potential of a hydrogen atom; to apply the laws underlying the structure of the periodic system of elements; to explain the origin of X-rays, the structure of the atomic nucleus, the causes of radioactivity, the functioning of nuclear fission a dnfusion reactors and to summarize the basic elements of radiation protection.
Introductionary lecture for physics students: Atoms, molecules and solids: Development and basic concepts of quantum physics, structure of atoms, atomic spectra, laser, Schrödinger equation for simple systems, atoms with more than one electron, periodic system of the elements, inner shell processes, X-ray emission, molecules, nucleus, radioactivity, nuclear fission and fusion, etc.

Liebe Studierende des 3. Semesters,laut Vorgabe des Rektorats gilt für die großen LVAs des 3. Semester eine Kohortenregelung. Kohorte A ist in geraden Kalenderwoche in Präsenz im HS/Seminarraum anwesend und Kohorte B in ungeraden Kalenderwochen. Die nicht in Präsenz befindlichen Gruppen nehmen online an den Vorlesungen bzw. Übungen teil. Das macht natürlich nur Sinn, wenn diese Kohortenregelung fächerübergreifend alle LVAs des 3. Semesters (mit Ausnahme des LVA 134.124 PR Laborübungen II, die nur in Präsenz durchgeführt werden kann) gilt!Es sind dies:134.120 VO Grundlagen der Physik III134.125 UE Grundlagen der Physik III136.059 VO Mathematische Methoden der Theoretischen Physik130.007 VU Technische Mechanik für TPH130.009 VU Analytische Mechanik für TPHEs ist daher notwendig, die bisher erfolgten individuellen Anmeldungen zu den einzelnen LVAs rückgängig zu machen! Das betrifft auch bisherige Anmeldung zur Vorlesung, die damit hinfällig sind!Die Kohortenzuteilung erfolgt jetzt bis Dienstag 05.10.2021 10 Uhr über Ihre Anmeldungen zur LVA 134.125 UE Grundlagen der Physik III (das sind die Rechenübungen). Die Einteilung in Kohorten A bzw. B wird von dort für alle oben angeführten LVAs übernommen. So können dann z.B. die Studierende der Kohorte A am Mittwoch 6.10. bereits in Präsenz an der Vorlesung 134.120 VO Grundlagen der Physik III im HS 6 teilnehmen. Kohorte B dann erstmals ab Montag 11.10.Für Studierende die sich zu spät anmelden, wird ab Dienstag 05.10.2021 10 Uhr eine eigene „Nachzüglergruppe“ freigeschaltet, deren Kohortenzuteilung von uns vorgenommen wird. Die Anmeldefrist dieser Gruppe endet am 11.10.2021 um 08:00 Uhr.Höhersemestrige, die einzelne LVAs aus obige Gruppe wiederholen wollen, melden sich bitte individuell bei den jeweiligen LVA-Leitern.
