After successful completion of the course, students are able to comprehend the materials presented in the lecture and to draw conclusions from them, as well as to actively communicate the contents presented during the lecture...
Thermoelectrics convert temperature gradients into electrical current or vice versa. Thus, they can be used in thermoelectric generators or Peltier coolers. Focus in our research is on designing new materials with high thermoelectric efficiency, via the use of internal or external nanostructuring and/or the incorporation of strong electronic correlations. These materials are synthesized, structurally and analytically characterized and thermoelectrically investigated in wide temperature ranges. The students will take part in all or selected steps of this research.
