Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to comprehend the motivation and physical background of the proposed experimental tasks and to draw conclusions from the experimental results, as well as to actively handle the relevant physical equipment.

Subject of course

Structural analysis of new intermetallic meterials. X-ray powder diffraction of polycrystalline samples and refinement of the crystal structure by Rietveld method. Single crystals grown at the Institute are investigated by Laue method for evaluation of their crystal perfection. The crystals are crystallographically oriented for further physical measurements.
