After successful completion of the course, students are able to orient within the study of technical physics, to overview which lectures are most relevant and decide how to best prepare for the first semester.
The Physics Studies at TU Wien, overview of current topics, organisation and administration.
Introduction into physical thinking. Discussion of prerequisites for successful graduation of Technical Physics.
Lectures and discussions in small groups with teaching assistants.
This orientation course provides information about studying technical physics as well as the lecture Fundamentals of Physics and its accompanying exercises. Some aspects of mechanics will be presented in lectures and based on exercises. At the end, there will be a self-assessment test to be completed online. This test only serves to provide an overview for you and the teachers and will not be graded.
For participating in this course, a registration in the TISS-group „Anmeldung Einführung“ is required (in the „Groups“ tab). You will be assigned to the small exercises groups after the registration deadline at random to ensure similar groups. Unfortunately, we cannot incorporate any special preferences.
You normally get the certificate (grade “successfully completed”) for theVU 130.005 Introduction into the Bachelor Study of Physicsafter completion of the self-assessment test during the course. In case you did not get the certificate (e.g. because you did not participate in the self-assessment test), you can request one after positive completionof theVU 130.001 Fundamentals of Physics Ia or theVU 130.003 Fundamentals of Physics IIa. (In this case, the certificate is not issued automatically) Please contact the lecturer of the respective course during the exam or via e-Mail.
