After successful completion of the course, students are able to summarize the main physical principles of stationary solids and liquids, to explicate fundamentals of the gas theory, to describe physically flowing liquids and gases as well as to formulate the basic thermodynamic laws and to be able to apply them to some physical systems. In the tutorial, the students learn to work independently on the problems and to present their results in front of small groups.

Lecture with embedded experiments to demonstrate the physical laws and accompanied exercises during which physical problems related to the lecture are solved and presented by the students.
Contnuous assesment through tests in the practical training part (50%) and a 1.5h written examination of the lecture part (50%)
Anmeldung aus Grundlagen Physik 1a wird automatisch in 1b übernommen. Für diese Personengruppe ist keine weitere Anmeldung erforderlich. Nur Repetenten die in diesem Semester nur die Grundlagen der Physik 1b wiederholen müssen, also keine Grundlagen der Physik 1a und keine Mathematik LVAs dieses Semesters wiederholen müssen, sollen sich in der unten angeführten Gruppe "Repetenten von nur 1b" anmelden. Sie werden dann auf die existierenden Gruppen aufgeteilt. Repetenten die neben 1b auch Mathematik LVAs aus dem 1. Semester belegen sollen eine email an johann.laimer@tuwien.ac.at schicken in denen sie die betreffenden LVAs nennen damit die Anmeldung für diese LVAs durchführt/veranlasst werden kann.
