Properties

  • Semester hours: 2.0
  • Credits: 3.0
  • Type: VU Lecture and Exercise

Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to...

  • design the motion sequence of a robot arm and to calculate the pose by means of forward kinematics.
  • independently determine data for further processing with a laser tracker.
  • name and evaluate possibilities for the control of geodetic measuring technology and robots (also with open-source).
  • formulate and implement ideas to generate data with own process instructions.
  • transfer own knowledge by independent working onto modern approaches.
  • analyse and present spatial data of industrial metrology for a specific problem.

Subject of course

Presentation and discussion of methods and sensors for space-continuous geometric determination.

For the determination of the geometry terrestrial laser scanners and methods of industrial surveying (LaserTracker+T_Scan) are used.

Groups handle and present individual work-packages which have as their overriding task the generation of high-quality point clouds. With these point clouds systematic influences of the measurement methodology can be uncovered.

The programming knowledge of the students is promoted in the exercises, individual tasks will be supported. The students gain an insight into what is possible in the combination of programming and geodesy.

Teaching methods

Introduction to the proprietary software RoboDK (robot arm) and Spatial Analyzer (laser tracker). Tutorial for the application of the (open-source) Robot Operating System (ROS). Support in programming in Python/Matlab to implement possible ideas and approaches.

Mode of examination

Immanent

Additional information

Combination of lectures, labs and workshops including realization of proposed concepts (laser scanner, laser tracker + t-scan, MatLab/Python).
