After successful completion of the course, students are able to...

  • elaborate on the way different routing algoriithms work
  • judge the performance of different routing algorithms
  • way the pros and cons of different data exchange formats against each other
  • understand the syntax of XML and JSON
  • understand how RESTful APIs work
  • assess the suitability of different web technologies with respect to the implementation of a web-based GIS.

Subject of course

All topics covered in this lecture are concerned with advanced theoretical and practical aspects of implementing a GIS. This includes (but is not neccessesarily restricted to) knowledge in the following domains:

1) Web Frameworks/Technologies/Architectures, inkl. RESTful APIs
2) Data exchange using XML or JSON
3) In-depth knoledge in routing algorithms
