After successful completion of the course, students are able to...

  • explain the fundamental concepts of geoinformation,
  • discuss the properties of reference surfaces and map projections
  • list the operations for raster and vector data,
  • describe the storage opf spatial data, and
  • enumerate the different aspects of quality of spatial data.

Subject of course

Representation, management, and analysis of spatial facts. This includes fundamental ideas of spatial cognition, reference frames, modelling as raster or vecor data sets and their storage, discussion of operations on both data models, and aspects of quality and standardization.

Presentation based on an explanatory text using practical examples
