Aim of course

Recognition of future trends in GIS

Subject of course

Discussion of the development in the next 10 to 15 years - based on current research and future research topics. New methods and techniques for providing and requesting spatial information from Geographic Information Systems (GIS) will be discussed. More specifically, the following topics will be addressed:

Volunteered Geographic Information (VGI), Crowd Sourcing, User Generated Content (UGC), Qualitative Spatial Representation and Reasoning. The focus of the course will be on GIS-human interface, representation and management of information, and "human-friendly" spatial querying.
