Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to:

- Have an overview of the research fields within LBS

- Describe the basic principles of outdoor and indoor positioning

- Understand the concepts of context-awareness, user-centered design, usability, and privacy

- Understand the basic components of mobile navigation systems (the most popular LBS application)

- Understand the basis of GPS tracking

- Understand the basis of automated driving

- Have some hands-on experiences on LBS research

Subject of course

We will cover different aspects of LBS, such as positioning, modelling and communication/presentation. In addition to lectures, students will work in group to design LBS applications or dealing with LBS-related research topics.

- Theoretical lectures

- Discussion of case studies

- Group supervision during the semester

- 2 presentation sessions to allow the students to defend their projects
