Multimedia is defined as interactive integration of text,(video) images, sound and animations. The lecture aims at enabling you to utilize multimedia for an efficient information transfer in cartography. Human-computer-interaction will be an important aspect to ensure successful geo communication. 

Practical assignments are completed using web technologies (HTML5, SVG, WebGL).

Basic knowledge of web technologies, as taught in VU "Webmapping", are a prerequesite for this lecture. Completing this lecture and VU Webmapping in the same semester is possible and recommended!

• multimedia components:media types, formats and their properties.
• legal aspects of media applicatons (Copyright, Licenses)
• implementation of multimedia cartographic products using web technologies
• Adaption of web content and maps for different devices (responsive design)
• Animation, Interaction

The class will be operated in close context with  LVA 127045 VU Internet Kartographie. Both class will start jointly with the first lecture on 28.3.2019 14:00 at EI8.

Practical assignments and a final group project which are graded with points. For each group there will be one oral hand-in examination appointment to verify that all group members contributed to the solution. The overall grade is based on the total points for the assignments and hand-in examination.
