2018S, VO, 2.0h, 2.5EC

Properties

  • Semester hours: 2.0
  • Credits: 2.5
  • Type: VO Lecture

Aim of course

Higher Economy & Accuracy of Surveying by Sun (stars) and a rough Geoid:
1) Speeding up and higher accuracy (30-40%) of polygons or free stations by Sun Azimuths (10% time efford)
2) Similar effect in small networks. Polaris Azimuths (1-3") for precise networks
3) Quick "Astro direction transfer": simultaneous aiming by 2 theodolites and handy when no sightings
4) Simple Vertical Deflection (VD) estimation in hilly & alpine areas: Network errors caused by VD (5-50cm/km) are 90% eliminated in a few minutes, using just a good compass and maps 1:50-200.000
5) How to get a local geoid solution from EGG or IGeS and 2-3 own measurements.
6) Exercises ("UE") for at least 3 topics: 2 topics of (1-3), 1 topic of (4-5), including evaluation of your own observations -- as prefered by you or your group.

Subject of course

A) rapid & economic Astro Orientation methods: Azimuth by Sun (polygon improvement ~40%), direction transfer at bad sightings ...

B) Vertical Deflection & alpine Geoid effects (up to 20cm/km): Estimation by "slope method" (horizontal prisms/ map 1:200.000); 2-point-method (pocket calc.); Transform into National systems, PC programs.
