## Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to understand the following:

• Calculating the point density of ALS data. Representing it using proper statistical values. Explaning the inhomogenities in the distribution of the point densities.
• Computing a digital surface model by considering the local roughness.
• Computing a digital terrain model by iteratively correcting the portion of the off-terrain points.

## Subject of course

The following three topics will be dealt with:

- quality control of airborne laserscanning data (point density)

- computation of a digital surface model using airborne laserscanning data

- computation of a digital terrain model using airborne laserscanning data

## Teaching methods

• Introduction to batch programming (Windows CMD) and the software packet OPALS
• Calculation of examples using given real data.
• Working in groups of 3 persons.
