Aim of course

ATTENTION: Course language is GERMAN! --- Digital image processing plays an important role in all areas of image-based data acquisition and processing. Many data compilation techniques run automatically or are highly automated thus supporting a human operator. It is essential, that one understands the various basic algorithms in order to understand und assess processes in commerical systems. One should also be able to design and to develop software for simple processes.

Subject of course

Simple image processing techniques for image enhancement (contrast enhancement, filter techniques), but also more complex methods such as spectral analysis, feature extraction, automated coordinate measurement, image matching, geometric rectification and image interpretation are explained. Complementing the lecture, exercises with practical examples demonstrate the mode of action. (See respective course!)

Examination modalities

The exam consists of a written and an oral part. In the written part one can collect a maximum of 60 credits. The written part is passed if more than 30 credits could be reached and the canditates are eligible for the oral part. In case of more than 45 credits, the oral part becomes obsolete unless explicitly asked by the student.

Marks are assigned according to the following table:

  1. EXCELLENT: more than 52.5 credits
  2. GOOD: more than 45 credits
  3. SATISFACTORY: more than 37.5 credits
  4. SUFFICIENT: more than 30 credits
  5. NOT SUFFICIENT (failed): less or equal 30 credits
