After successful completion of the course, students are able to independently develop ideas for research, to explain them in detail, to implement them with tools of their choice, and to critically reflect on results with respect to their own objectives.

Depending on the topic of the diploma thesis or dissertation, different types of knowledge from photogrammetry or related disciplines are required or presupposed which the student lacks and which are presented and discussed within the framework of private studies. Based on the student's own knowledge, a research idea is developed, written down, and discussed. This will then be implemented (e.g. by programming) and the results are presented and discussed with the supervisor.
