Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to use photogrammetric terminology, explain the concepts of the photogrammetric standard case and bundle block adjustment as well as planar rectification and ortho photo production. Students can perform flight planning and estimate accuracy of photogrammetric products. Students can explain the stereoscopic restitution principle. Students can describe the most important photogrammetric products (point coordinates, line plans, orthophotos and terrain models) and analyze their properties. They can illustrate the functionality of cameras and laser scanners and compare them with each other.

Subject of course

The course explains the basic theory starting from concrete and easily understandable applications. It is intended too avoid more complicated theory without curtailing the capability to understand essential applications.

  • photogrammetric terminology
  • standard case (so-called "normal case")
  • bundle block adjustment and automatic bundle block
  • platforms and flight planing
  • sensos camera and laser scanner
  • accuracy estimation
  • ortho photo
  • digital terrain model and surface model
  • planar rectification
  • stereoscopic restitution principle

Examination modalities

There is a written exam in multiple choice mode. It includes questions on knowledge of photogrammetry as well as small examples which need to be solved by computation.
