After successful completion of the course, students are able to understand the theoretical principles and field of application of Geophysics, as well as the profile and tasks of a geophysicist. The students will learn how Geophysics combines mathematics, physics and geology to characterize Earth´s processes, structure and composition. By the end of the lecture, the students will acquire the knowledge to apply geophysical methods based on natural sources, - seismology, magnetometry, gravimetry, spontaneous potential and magnetotelluric - to understand natural phenomena, such as earthquakes, volcanoes, groundwater flow and mass movements.
A written exam at the end of the semester
Formal lecture of theoretical principles
Discussion with the students on the application of theoretical concepts
