  • choose a suitable instrumentation for seismic experiments
  • determine the influence of the instruments on the recorded data and reduce it if needed
  • design the station layout for seismic experiments
  • detect seismic events
  • localize seismic events and compute the magnitude

  • Discussion of theoretic topics using case studies.
  • Demonstration of seismic sensors and data recorders.
  • Usage of Python and Jupyter notebooks within the lab examples.

Knowledge of the topics covered by the lectures seismic exploration and fundamentals of geophysics.

Basic computer programming knowledge is needed to accomplish the lab excersices. The programming language of choice is Python using the Jupyter Notebook (https://jupyter.org/).
