The lecture should bring about the theoretical and methodological foundation of the observation and analysis of earthquakes from local to global scale.
Seismometry, seismic waves and ground motion, earthquake location, travel-times, focal mechanism and radiation pattern, seismic moment, seismic networks and related topics.
Evaluation of the lab reports an oral exam.
Basic computer programming knowledge is needed to accomplish the lab excersices. The programming language of choice is Python using the Jupyter Notebook (https://jupyter.org/).
As an alternative, Matlab and Matlab reports will be accepted as well.
