After successful completion of the course, students are able to split up polar motion into pro- and retrograde parts by means of two-sided spectra, to work with tidal potential catalogues and to calculate the effects of geophysical processes (mass changes, particle motion) on Earth rotation.
Transition between celestial and terrestrial reference systems, spectral analysis of Earth orientation parameters, free & forced polar motion, modeling of Earth rotation variations associated with dynamical processes in atmosphere and oceans.
Independent elaboration of exercises (with Matlab) after preceding explanation during the exercises.
