Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to formulate applied problems of optimal control theory, to parameterize the models, to solve them appropriately, and to interpret the obtained results.

Subject of course

Modelling of drug epidemics with systems of ordinary or partial differential equations; Parametrization of the models with data for the U.S. cocaine epidemic and various Australian drug problems; Solution of the corresponding optimal control models with appropriate maximum principles
