After successful completion of the course, students are able to

  • discuss technology in the field of tension between values and consequences
  • explain concepts of technology assessment
  • explain the procedure in technology assessment projects (and to demonstrate in micro projects)
  • outline Technology assessment methods
  • differentiate between ethics and morality
  • discuss basic concepts of ethics (human rights, risk, security, progress, consequences, sustainability, responsibility)
  • build up gender competences

Areas of tension in technical progress, expectations of technology assessment, history and concepts of technology assessment, TA projects, TA methods, TA practical examples, technology and ethics, technology and gender
