• conduct systematic literature research
• write scientific papers
• review scientific results
• present scientific results
• to behave in accordance with the ethical rules for scientific work

Dealing with scientific work, especially formal aspects of scientific working and writing. This seminar is not a scientific seminar on a fixed topic (such seminars then follow in the master’s). This seminar focuses on the introduction to scientific work, the selected scientific topics are only a tool.

• Introduction to writing scientific papers by Podcasts (TUWEL); occanially TUWEL ZOOM meetings
• Literature search on a specified topic (partially selectable, but must be coordinated with the lecturer)
• Development of a short lecture (ZOOM) and a scientific text (seminar paper) on a selected paper from the specified topic.
• Review of seminar papers by other participants in the seminar (first approaches to a scientific discussion)

Note: The live parts (simulated conference) are held in a blocked manner.

The assessment is based on (3ECTS = 75 working hours):

• the lecture in the context of a simulated conference; participation in the simulated conference (35 working hours)
• the seminar work submitted (failure to meet the deadline has a negative effect on the grade) (30 working hours)
• the implementation of the review process and answering the reviews for your own seminar work(10 working hours)

Most of the courses from the first two years of a mathematics bachelor's degree should already have been successfully completed. It goes without saying that a positive graduation from STEOP is highly recommended.
